Right you are. In fact, the total value of venture deals for the past five years will barely exceed the $104 million invested during 2000 alone. But, the number of deals over the past 5 years, nearly 15,000, is almost 2x the number of investments (7,812) made in 2000. Dollars per deal has shrunk roughly 50 percent. Wish you had a statistic on venture equity per dollar invested! That would tell an interesting tale.
